Louie Luongo — Putnam Valley Town Board
If elected, Louie Luongo, a 28 year resident of Putnam Valley, would begin a three year term on January 1, 2013. Louie plans to focus on helping our town develop a common goal of making our community the best it can be.
Louie is well known in Putnam Valley and Putnam County, having served 28 years as a volunteer for the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department and 25 years as a member of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps. In addition, Louie currently volunteers with the Putnam County Emergency Services specializing in radio communications. He has served on the Board of Directors for both the Fire Department and Ambulance Corp and is a Past Chief of the Fire Department. Reporter Eric Gross of Putnam County News & Recorder recently stated, “Luongo’s dedication to the field of emergency services is well known countywide” (March 14, 2012).
Louie is currently employed at Metro North Railroad Corporation in Croton-Harmon NY where he is a Machinist and serves as Shop Steward. He began his tenure at Metro North in 2004.
From 1993 to 2004, Louis worked as Safety Coordinator for Yorktown Pennysaver & Printing Corporation in Yorktown Heights NY. As Safety Coordinator, he was responsible for training over 200 employees annually on “Right to Know” Hazard Communications, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tag out, emergency evacuation procedures and other industrial safety procedures for equipment driver training, maintaining bindery equipment, and for maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets. He conducted monthly inspections of fire exits and fire extinguishers, bindery equipment, truck repairs and records, and manpower assignments.
Louie has excellent leadership qualifications and experience. He has excellent skills in interfacing with the public as well as with town and county officials. He is known for responsibly meeting deadlines and for thoroughly overseeing budgets. Louie Luongo will be an excellent addition to the Putnam Valley Town Board.
