Our Democratic slate is a diverse and experienced team that is ready to work for you. All have been endorsed by the Putnam Valley Democratic Committee (at the Town level) or the Putnam County Democratic Committee.
Wendy Whetsel — Town Board
Wendy Whetsel is an experienced member of Putnam Valley’s town board. She initiated and supported a town-wide oil co-op which now provides more competitive oil prices for residents. She worked hard to successfully protect Peekskill Hollow Road from unwanted and unnecessary expansion. She has consistently supported sustainable economic development for our town.
Gina Capone — Town Judge
Gina Capone is currently serving her third term as Town Justice, encompassing 12 years of service to the Town. Gina has been in Private Practice as a lawyer since 1997 after graduating from Pace University Law School. She is licensed to practice in New York States’ 2nd District.
Dawn Powell — Town Board
Dawn Powell has a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and a D.C. from New York Chiropractic College. She has been in private practice as a chiropractor since 1985 and has also worked for our town, gaining invaluable experience in local government. Dawn blogs on Points about town government issues so residents can learn what’s going on in town.
Town Hall is our first access to government and directly affects the quality of our lives. Dawn is concerned about haphazard and expensive town projects. Six years after our unanimously passed Comprehensive Plan, we do not have an updated wetlands law, a protected biodiversity corridor, or ridgeline protection. There is still no updated zoning code. Dawn is running to decrease our tax burden, encourage more voices, and restore a truly democratic process.
